Without a doubt, keeping your guitar safe
when not in use is one of the most important things you can do for your
guitar. Below we list some of the benefits of having a good quality guitar
case as well as other ways your case can help you maintain your guitar in
mint condition.
- Now that you've put your guitar in your guitar case, it's time to pack
your gig bag with the essentials. Consider keeping the following items
on hand during your next performance: (1)flashlight, (2) tape, (3)batteries
(4)tuner, (5)spare set of guitar strings, (6)spare amp cable, and (7)any
other repair kits you may need.
- Deciding whether to get a hard shell guitar
case or a gig bag depends on how you use your guitar. Before you buy either
option think about how often you will transport your guitar from place to
place. Gig bags offer some protection from bumps, are lighter, and make it
easier to transport your guitar from gig to gig; however, they do not offer
as much protection as a hardshell case. A hard shell case offers a lot more
protection because of the hard exterior and extra padding within. With the
extra padding and harder exterior also comes a clunky case that can be heavy
to carry.
- Need to travel by air to your next
performance? Consider investing in a hardshell case to add extra protection
for your guitar or consider mailing your guitar to yourself. If you choose
the second option be sure to send your guitar in a well padded box that is
labeled fragile. Also purchase insurance for your package.
