| Guitar Maintenance Tips:
At The Middle C we know that a guitar is not only an instrument, its an
investment in time as well as money. For this reason we offer some helpful
tips to help you prolong the quality of sound that comes from your guitar.
Get the most out of your investment by reading our information below.
Like a fine piece of furniture, your guitar should be polished. Polish
as well as a chamois polishing cloth will give your guitar a great sheen .
To polish your guitar consider applying only thin layers at a time. Doing
this method allows you to control the amount of polish placed on your
guitar. Note: If the guitar neck is not lacquered
applying polish to its surface may damage it.
To store your guitar for long periods of time, consider the following:
(1)Clean and polish your guitar; (2)Apply lemon oil on your fret board;
(3) Remove most of the tension from your strings; (4)Store your guitar in
a sturdy case; (5)Make sure your guitar is stored in a place where there
aren't drastic temperature changes (both hot and cold), as well as in a
location where there is no risk of it getting bumped or dropped.
Whether or not you choose to oil your non-lacquered guitar neck is a
matter of preference. If you choose to apply oil on the neck, apply small
amounts to minimize the risk of applying too much. Make sure to wait for
the oil to dry before applying additional coats. If you accidentally
oil your frets, just take a dry cloth and wipe them down.
